Interactive Technology Software & Media Association (ITSMA) is a Not-for-Profit organization founded in 2001 with the aim to enhance business development and business expansion opportunities for the Indian ICT SMEs. ITSMA liaises and networks with businesses and institutions involved in the development ICT technologies, its distribution and service provision. ITSMA provides consultancy services to both National and International organizations and acts as a catalyst in business collaborations.
ITSMA believes in taking a 360 degree view of business and involves not only in the business aspects of the organizations but also in social and cultural developmental activities of our national and International clients. This way ITSMA carves itself a niche in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Under the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for the ICT Sector, ITSMA along with European partners was instrumental in establishing the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Government of India, as the first ever National Contact Point (NCP). ITSMA was the lead coordinator of the NCP Network in India by steering the Indian organizations to participate in FP7.
ITSMA offers wide-range of services to its members and clients from across the globe. We are very actively involved in promoting Indian Small and Medium ICT Industries by showcasing the best of Indian work, both virtually and physically and organizing trade missions to potential international markets. Furthermore, ITSMA facilitates International Business Development for the SMEs.
Apart from offering these services, ITSMA undertakes and participates in various National and International Research and Development (R&D) projects, and market survey projects for the sector.
We envisage a bright future for the Indian ICT SMEs. Sheer talent and capacity for work are already in place – we believe great strides can be made with the right encouragement. Specifically, the SMEs and industry have to surmount the lack of international recognition, the dearth of cohesive standards, the bureaucratic structure of larger organizations. We envision becoming a facilitator for the SMEs to climb up the value chain; from being a service provider to research and technological development organization, internationalizing their products and networks.
To aid ICT SMEs and industry to adopt new technologies, develop strategic business partnerships, by creating an effective framework for networking, by laying down the groundwork for international expansion as well as by providing advocacy in a variety of high-level national and international forums.
Some specific objectives to be achieved along the way vary from being broad-based to specific:
- Contribute significantly to the development of the SME segment of the Indian ICT Industry
- Promote exchange of knowledge and experience and cross-fertilization of best practices among institutions, through a knowledge and information sharing network
- Engage in activities related to raising awareness on various international, and national public funding and collaboration programmes
- Undertake RTD of new technologies and developments in the field of ICT
- Raise awareness of Internet and Broadband technologies in the country
- Disseminate relevant information on technical, commercial, economic and social trends to the Industry
- Engage in activities that will upgrade the role of Digital Media
- Contribute in solving Corporate Social Responsibility issues
- Provide innovative technological solutions and spread the positive effects of Information Technology
